Ghosts are Relying on Trust and Camaraderie to Achieve Success this Year
As the Westford Academy Football Team gears up for their first in-season game against Lowell High School on September 13th, the atmosphere within the team is charged with optimism and confidence. Central to this positive atmosphere is a profound sense of trust that has developed among the players—a trust that has been meticulously cultivated throughout the summer and is expected to drive them through the season.
The 2024-2025 season features six captains: Alex Wilson, Evan Pasters, Jesse Moran, Ryan Kyle, Quinn Rynolds, and Chris Butts. These captains have embraced their roles with a shared goal of creating an environment where every player feels valued and supported. Senior Captain and Wide Receiver Ryan Kyle emphasizes the importance of this inclusive approach. "A lot of the past captains have been really inclusive with the underclassmen. I think that’s just kind of the environment that our football team has in general," Kyle says. This sentiment underscores a key aspect of the team's success: a culture of mutual respect and encouragement. When players trust one another and feel a deep connection, their confidence in their collective ability to succeed grows exponentially.
This trust and camaraderie have been evident throughout the summer as the team engaged in scrimmages and practice sessions. Their recent win against Haverhill on August 30th is a testament to the progress they have made. The victory not only showcased their skill and preparation but also reflected the strong team dynamic that has been nurtured over the months during the off-season.
As the Westford Academy Football Team prepares to face Lowell High School, the unity and confidence built during the off-season are poised to be powerful assets. The captains’ commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment has created a solid foundation upon which the team can build as they tackle the challenges of the upcoming season.
