1. LaFond Sparks the Offense
Quarterback Jack LaFond was the difference-maker, tallying three total touchdowns and over 150 yards. His 50-yard breakaway run in the second quarter broke the ice, and he added a second rushing score before halftime. Just before the break, he connected with Teddy Hirbour on a perfectly placed 31-yard strike—capped by Hirbour’s diving sideline grab that electrified the crowd.
2. Explosive Backfield Depth
The Ghosts’ ground game was unstoppable. Brett Moran rushed for 106 yards on just four carries, highlighted by a 77-yard touchdown that buried Wayland’s hopes. Senior Ben Chen added 80 yards and a 6-yard TD run in the fourth, proving Westford has multiple weapons capable of delivering game-changing plays.
3. Wilson & Defense Dominate
Defensive end JJ Wilson was nearly unblockable, notching four sacks and forcing two fumbles in just one half of action. Behind him, Brett Moran, Malcolm McDonald, and Leo Koutsoukos shut down the inside run game, while cornerback Sam Bramanti handled the edges. To put an exclamation point on the shutout, sophomore Nolan Kropp sealed the night with an interception in the final minutes.
4. Youth Night Atmosphere Elevates the Win
More than 1,500 fans filled Trustees Field for the annual Youth Night celebration. Flag and tackle players joined the varsity squad on the field, while younger cheerleaders and band members performed alongside WA’s varsity squads. The energy in the stands matched the team’s dominant play, creating a memorable community showcase.
5. Defending the Crown
With the win, Westford improves to 1–2 and now heads into a showdown with undefeated Lincoln-Sudbury. The rivalry has defined the Dual County League in recent years, with the Ghosts defending their league title and LS looking to take it away. Friday’s clash will be a battle for bragging rights and early control of the championship race
