Westford Academy Falls to Lincoln-Sudbury, 48–35

Westford Academy fell to Lincoln-Sudbury on Friday night, 48–35. After falling behind early and trailing by 28 at halftime, the Ghosts fought back with a strong second half to close within one score before LS pulled away late.
First Half
Lincoln-Sudbury opened the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown and later added a 9-yard scoring pass with a successful two-point conversion.
Westford answered when quarterback Jack LaFond connected with receiver Teddy Hirbour on a 16-yard touchdown pass, followed by a PAT from Tyler Kane.
LS responded immediately with another kickoff return touchdown and added a 9-yard quarterback run. On the next drive, LaFond found JJ Welsh on a broken play, scrambling to his right and keeping the play alive before hitting Welsh for a 29-yard touchdown.
Just before halftime, LS hit on a 51-yard touchdown pass to take a 42–14 lead into the break.
Second Half
Westford came out of halftime with momentum. Hirbour, on a reverse, threw a 5-yard touchdown pass back to LaFond. The Ghosts then successfully recovered an onside kick, keeping the ball and sustaining pressure.
Moments later, LaFond hit Hirbour for a 38-yard touchdown, and early in the fourth quarter, the two connected again on a 19-yard score to make it a one-possession game at 42–35.
Lincoln-Sudbury responded with a late 5-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring.
