Friday night was electrifying for the Ghosts as they dominated Belmont with a resounding 49-0 victory. The evening featured Youth Night and a spirited White-Out theme in the student section, creating a high-energy atmosphere.
Several players made significant contributions to the win. Running back Jesse Moran rushed for 105 yards on only seven carries, one of them a 43-yard scoring dash, and added a 15-yard TD reception. Quarterback Alex Wilson was 6-of-8 through the air and he gained 66 yards on eight carries, including a 28-yard score. Running back Ben Chen scored on runs of 35 and five yards, and finished with 113 yards on 11 attempts.
Also scoring for Westford were linebacker Quinn Reynolds on a 55-yard interception return and running back Declan Hevey on a 50-yard sprint.
The defense also played lights out. They did not allow a first down until the last drive of the game. DE Chris Butts and LB Cooper Durgin led the defense in tackles. Defensive linemen, Leo Koutsoukos, caused a fumble late in the game to secure the shutout.
The Westford Academy Football Team also made the night special for the youth. During halftime, future players of WA got to run across the field, high-fiving the current team, while aspiring WA cheerleaders joined the high school squad to cheer on the Ghosts.
As the Westford Academy football team prepares for this Friday’s game against Leominster, the players are sharpening their focus and refining their game plan. With the momentum from last week’s victory, they are approaching practices with renewed intensity, working on everything from precision in passing to tightening up defensive strategies.
