Last Friday, the Ghosts traveled to Concord-Carlisle and secured another impressive victory. Despite the chilly weather, Westford Academy brought the heat, dominating the game with a final score of 35-0.
In a pre-game interview, senior offensive lineman Cooper Durgin shared the team’s excitement leading up to the matchup. “The team is feeling really great. We had a great week of practice,” Durgin said. That positive mindset translated into a commanding win on the field.
The Ghosts scored in all 3 phases of the game. The defense especially played great. Cooper Durgin had 2 fumble recoveries and a scoop and score for a touchdown off of Connor Knottners blocked punt. Quinn Reynolds put the game away in the 4th quarter with an 81 yard interception return for a touchdown. Sophomore JJ Wilson added 2 sacks on the night.
Offensively, Alex Wilson rushed nine times for 55 yards and completed 7-of-9 passes for 125 yards. He added a 10-yard TD run. Running back Jesse Moran carried for 75 yards and had a 1-yard TD plunge. Athlete Evan Pasters added 35 yards on four rushes and scored on a 18-yard jaunt.
The team is hard at work as they prepare for their next challenge against Chelmsford this Friday at Chelmsford High School. Despite last week's success against Concord-Carlisle, the Ghosts remain focused on refining their game. The longstanding Westford-Chelmsford rivalry promises to bring excitement and friendly competition to this Friday’s matchup.
Students are encouraged to come out and support the Ghosts, with a "Wild West" theme for the student section. The loud cheers and high energy from the crowd give the team a much-needed boost during games.
